Made for Two

This world was made for two,
tea for two, not for one
a pair of jeans
holding hands (in the plural)

And yet here I find myself as one
as a singular, just me
here, all alone, quiet
with the future bearing down one me

A future that looks bleak
with just me and the world
no body to share it with
not a companion to go through with

And so I wait, here on my own
hoping, longing, calling
for a someone to be close to
to share my warmth with and be as one

To court and climb mountains
travel the seven sees
enfold in arms of love
and be apart to long to be together

But with the course that I seem to run
nobody ever seems to fit
ever seems to see me
as the one to find their love and rest in

So I hope and dream, my mind flies
in far flung places we walk
in peaceful places we talk
and in the sad times we just are

As the world would have us be
together as one
with one love we stand
in this world made for two
