Why do you Pause?

sometimes, my God you are sitting right here
at my side on that seat chatting away
but then you go quiet and chat no more
and then there's just me all on my own

oh Lord why do you pause?

if you were superman i would be able to say
"oh he's just gone to rescue someone"
but no, as you're omnipotent i already know
that you can save them while still by my side

oh Lord why do you pause?

then your return to me chatting as before
and confirming on sunday what you said in the week
and i tell you my fears and dreams again
you take them away and give me your peace

but oh Lord why did you pause?

or was it me, to wrapped up in myself
to notice God sitting right here
trying gently to get me to see
just how much he really loves me
